In addition, Veterans Park, George Kennedy Park, and Highland Shores Park are also on the Indian River. Whistle Stop Park’s facilities include racquetball, tennis, and basketball courts, plus ball fields, a skate park, and a concession stand. Menard-May Park has a volleyball court, picnic tables, fishing pier, and boat launch. Hawks Park Recreation Complex is a 19,000 sq. ft. recreation complex with a heated pool, several lighted ball fields, conservation area, handicap accessible nature trail, outdoor amphitheater, and more. Nearby Canaveral National Seashore is a 57,000-acre long barrier island that is home to more than 250 species of wildlife. Ponce de Leon Lighthouse in Daytona is a preserved light station and museum. Edgewater is also a short drive away from Atlantic Center for the Arts, Daytona International Speedway, Disney World and Kennedy Space Center.



Edgewater still maintains much of its agricultural roots, which is one of many reasons why this city is a special place to live. Daytona State College, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Bethune-Cookman University, and University of Central Florida/Daytona Campus are all located in Daytona Beach, while Stetson University is in close by DeLand.
